So I could make lots of jokes about the fact that the tropical storm (I’m not sure how they’re classifying the storm at this hour) shares the same name as my eleven-year-old daughter. It’s even more ironic that she (the hurricane, not the daughter) is causing the evacuation of Gregory’s campus. He goes to school near Virginia Beach and apparently, they’re closing school tomorrow.
I have to tell you, I’m so happy that this child is an extrovert. About an hour after they announced the evacuation, Greg corralled his friends and got a ride. He’s not coming home, he’s going to a friend’s house. I worry about him because he’s my son and I love him. But truthfully, he’s in much better shape than I was at his age. If it were me, I’d still be pondering how I was going to get home and what I was going to do. Thankfully, he’s not an introvert like me. He’s totally going to do well in life.

My brother’s name is Andrew. I don’t know if you remember Hurricane Andrew that hit Florida in 1992, and then the cost of Louisiana (home for me). At that time my brother had entered the “Treacherous Three’s” and we could not help but see the irony because both Andrews brought destruction wherever they landed. For the remainder of his childhood we referred to him as Hurricane Andrew
